If you haven't heard about it before, basically DICE ported over a few 1942 maps, vehicles, weapons, etc. to the BF:V engine.

I personally won't have time to download and try it out until tomorrow.

Beats buying BF:1942 and the new screens have a lot more detail

Well, it's hardly all of 1942, and the entire set of 1942 and the two expansions is pretty cheap, but yeah, it's still pretty nice.

Just downloaded it... played Iwo Jima for a bit. I dont know if they dumbed the bots down or something, but my team lost within 10 minutes. Half the bots just stood around and did nothing. Looks pretty good with Nam engine though [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Its pretty hard to dumb down the bots from what they were before, but I guess it is possible...

Since when is totally demolishing an area while playing "Somebody to Love" or "Nowhere to Run," considered a waste of money?

It wasnt all a waste of money, but i prefer bf1942, but it is fun demolishing stuff with 'war' playing, or dropping bombs with 'flight of the valkyries' playing.

Nam was hardly a waste. It is pretty fun. They could stand to add a few maps, but what they have is pretty fun for the most part.

If 'nam ran better, it'd be hella more fun. 1024x768 medium quality at 30fps. Not fun.

But it's hardly a waste of money. I mean dodging napalm to "Ride of the Valkyries" whilst on a scooter--UNFREAKING BEATABLE.

Here are my impressions.

The Good

-the remixed Battlefield 1942 theme (weird)
-being able to shoot from the passenger seat of the jeep
-the ability to play MP3s, although the default selection is pretty weak
-the new thompson, which looks and feels great

The Bad
-the water looks like piss...literally.
-the flamethrower is useless.

And the Ugly
-it's 260 MB
-the fact that it now takes a large amount of people to capture a flag, which isn't like BF1942 at all

EDIT: And I also happen to like BF Vietnam very much. It's different and takes some getting used to, but it's fun regardless.
