Yeah, works pretty well. I loaded up Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog on my laptop, and HDMI outputted to the HDTV and watched it all. Was pretty cool.

I'd like to be able to watch it directly on my tv with no pc interaction. For example, on my Roku box (which currently streams only from netflix "watch instantly" selection). Watching on my monitor is lame (no couch) and I don't want to put a pc in my family room by the tv.

Right now my setup is Fileserver, XBMC on an Xbox, and an old 60" 480p projection TV. It works great as long as it's not HD content. The Xbox chokes on that.

I'm going to build a HTPC when I can afford a decent home theater setup.

I don't know anyone (among TV owners) that hasn't upgraded to one. Even my 90 year old grandmother who doesn't care about technology has one.

And he's always posting good deal threads and hasn't managed to find himself a good deal on a TV lol.

Grab any HD mkv rip from wherever, get handbrake and convert it to 720p with xivd at 24fps. Plays great on the original xbox and looks awesome :)
