It might be old news but..

Jlee, better call dibs at the station so you can spend your nights in one of these bad boys.

Looks more like something out of a Sci-Fi than what you would see out on the street. Too me it just looks weird.
2009-03-02, 10:22 AM #3
It doesn't look that weird to me at all. It looks pretty bad *** though.
Think while it's still legal.

It definitely has a lot of neat features police are looking for. I like the integrated warning lights, especially the 360 degree visibility.

I'm not a big fan of their color, and personally I love the imposing, powerful built of the original car posted. These are nice, but I'm not a big fan of the aerodynamic sportscar look

Those cars look stupid...they look like they are police-themed racecars, not actual respectable enforcement equipment. Also, sure it's fast, but for anything else, what good is it? Cops don't spend their day getting into high-speed chase after high-speed chase. They need a car that is effective at patrolling and enforcing, not "going faster than the bad guy". What are those cops with their carbon fiber cars going to do when they catch up? Bump into him and have the front end of the car disintegrate?

This thread reminds me of this photo I took on bart of a CHP propaganda poster. Apparently if you join CHP you get to go around doing big smokey burnouts in decked out sports cars.

I said cooler, not 'have better functionality.' You're right, these cars mass produced would be useless for enforcement. They mostly 'work' based on intimidation. Ex. You're not going to outrun a Lamborghini.

Anyway, this cop car does look pretty neat. I wish the lines were a little more extreme. The Car doesnt look incredibly intimidating.

Reminds me of this actually:

Biodiesel engine? Must have one **** of a self cleaning filter to stay running at those amazing top super mcspeeds.

We were actually looking at these online last night.

I like them. It's about time that someone designed a car from the ground up to actually be a police vehicle. The rear doors are awesome, and the back seat setup is even more so. Completely separate from the front area- hose out the back and pull a drain plug? Outstanding.

For those complaining about the speed- trust me, when you're trying to catch up with someone in an anemic CV, you'll wish you had a little more grunt. The diesel is also 40% more fuel efficient than current stuff, IIRC (I average somewhere between 8-11mpg with a Crown Vic). I don't think these are much/any faster than the current V8 Chargers anyway.

Carbon fiber is strong, too- the last time we pushed a cruiser out (bumper-to-bumper on the push bumpers), we ended up bending the mounts...the CV fronts aren't as beefy as they look.

Check out this video. They make a good point- fire departments get specially built vehicles...as does the military...hell, even the POST OFFICE gets their own special stuff. Why don't we?

If you're not a cop, there's a lot of stuff you likely won't appreciate. If you are, you'll see that this is indeed :awesome:.

I just can't wait untill they start using 5th Element style hover cars.

It needs an integrated laptop mount.

Also, don't be hating on the post office for having custom-built trucks. Have you ever actually looked at those things? They are incredibly cheap death traps. Sheet metal rivited to a hollow-tube frame. Real wheel drive, easy to flip, no airbags, no radio, center of gravity above the wheels, half of them don't even have heaters.

It kind of looks like there's a keyboard and monitor built into the console. Probably you could just add whatever software you needed through that.

You don't know anything about being a cop, do you?

It's so they can play Far Cry 2 while they're pretending to process your speeding ticket.
