Is there a way to use my computer's hard drive as storage for my xbox 360?

According to Google, it doesn't look good.
(I have the Xbox hooked up to my network as an extender for media center)

your computer can only be used for streaming videos, photos, and music

also you can use an external HD connected to the xbox to store videos, photos, and music

but games, game saves, and add-ons can't be stored on anything but the 360's HD (or memory unit)

Can you? I have a 500GB WD MyBook external hard drive, with music and videos on, but my Xbox doesn't recognise it.
