Empire: Total War

Earth Empire: Total War is a RTS game and is really fun. Please buy this game now so I can have Massassians to play against.

Anyways this thread is dedicated to Sweden, so far the best faction in the game for obvious reasons.

Right now Sweden hates the Barbary states, but that is okay because the Barbary states is at war with every single faction except the Ottoman Empire or something.

Oh and Muscovy. I plan on invading the Ruskies soon.

Du gamla, du fria, du fjällhöga Nord,
du tysta, du glädjerika sköna!
Jag hälsar dig, vänaste land uppå jord,
din sol, din himmel, dina ängder gröna,
din sol, din himmel, dina ängder gröna.

EDIT: Yes I know the anthem was written in the 1800's and the game starts in 1700's Böråg

you play during WW2 and can play like, your choice of 130 countries, Canada is one of them. it's a hard game to get into cause it's got alot of stuff to do. But you can manage armies and stuff.

read one review where someone played as the US and their armies were displeased, so the US started a Civil war and was split into the east and the west, then they saved the game and played as the partisans and counqured the U.S as the republic of California. Not sure if that was in a mod or was part of the actual game tho.

I tried playing as Canada, but it was hard, they start with like... NO troops and you have to spend ALOT of time getting an army built thats sizable to take any zone or country.

my favorite game was playing as the germans, I decided to launch my attack on poland and forgot to train certain technologies.

the game ended with Poland taking berlin and the war ended 3 years earlier. haha.

I loved Hearts of Iron 2, but the learning curve was ridiculous.

As for Empire Total War... Ever since Company of Heroes came out, the total war games seem slow and unexciting.

This game is better than I thought it would be. And my expectations were high. It's so much simpler to manage things now, as well as it should be because this map is huge.

I have one last city to capture before I wipe Denmark off the map (Copenhagen), and then it's off to Russia.

Also I love how the troops actually speak in their language.

Helsingfors is just a small harbor right now. If I exempt Finland from taxes, it might grow rapidly. I can then mobilize troops better.

Denmark is destroyed. I now control Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark.

So much fun.

The grand Swedish armies are conquering the world?
Sounds like awesome.
(I just noticed one of the thread tags is Sweden :awesome:.

So far I seriously dislike it.

The controls for forming your army up are still rubbish.

Enjoyed every other one up til this one (The singleplayer "american" campaign was amusingly badly designed, whats the point of a short cut through an ally's territory if your army gets ambushed in a forest and the crap formation controls refuse to let you get your army in a decent formation without having to frigging drag every unit into where you want them...)

I was really confused at first about the controls. But now I get it, and it's really fun.

Keep us updated Jay, how goes the war?

I love the fighting techniques they have now. I'm pretty much the most prestigious faction in the game right now, so I'm concentrating on researching at universities. Each item researched in the combat field gets applied to your forces. For example, researching new types of bayonets actually shows the different styles of bayonets and makes your troops better at melee. There's also firing by rank, which if you have three ranks of men, the first fires, then ducks and reloads. Then the second one fires, ducks and reloads. Then the third does it.

One of my favorite aspects of the game.

I wish my computer could run it...but it barely runs Rome: TW.

Well I've spent some time with it and have got to grips with the formations.

And wow what fun. I sent 2 armys to capture Florida and Georgia and then eventually take 2 more territorys.

If I were to capture Que'bec I would get the entire land of the 13 Colonies as reward :)

Except thats deep into French territory (They keep offering to swap Florida for Caribbean Islands for some reason).

Has some huge fights against the native americans. Including an interesting one where I had 2 Colonial Line Infantry regiments vs 2 Indian Lancers.

Both in Square formation (With Screw Bayonets) = Win
