I guess this is the part where I point out that she kinda looks like a blow up doll now.

Then again, an amputee or handicapped person can be a model too. Because its not the outer appearance that matters most, but what's on the inside.. beyond the protruding chest hair..

I say that this ad is progressive.

On a more serious note - it really does seem like the drug commercials these days are getting worse and worse in the side effects department. Hell the celebrex commercial is 3 minutes of babbling on about its side effects.

All that has changed is everyone is afraid of liability now. There were always side effects.

I just saw that one today. It's insane.

I think it's less of a liability issue and more about the fact that
a) you're actually seeing more ads for prescription drugs (rather than OTC, which have always advertised directly to consumers) which tend to have worse side effects and
b) the DDMAC (governing body for pharma ads) have said that companies HAVE to include all of the risks and side effects - which I think has always been the rule, but they're getting stricter about it.

hopefully advertising will one day strat to work against them and consumers will actually start to weigh the risks and rewards enough to not ask for meds unless something is actually seriously interfering with their day to day life.

Have trouble sleeping? Take xyz!

Side effects are normally minor and can include internal bleeding, involuntary muscle movement, paralysis, decreased intelligence, extreme irritability, excessive tiredness, an inability to digest anything except baby formula, and cancer in the state of California.

Ahh, American medicine.

*slaps thigh*
nope.
2009-03-07, 9:12 AM #13
American medicine isn't about curing the ailment but masking it with a cornucopia of drugs. The side effect lists are getting long and longer. Which seems to tell me that the FDA is "rubber stamping" approvals.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I don't understand how no one noticed that. I mean, that's the first thing you see when you look at the picture.

It's from a photoshopping thread somewhere.

wasnt me!

Someone in the comments suggested it could be a 3d Advertisement. IE - they add another layer with the forearms and hands.

Heres the Full Image: http://www.fair-news.de/cmsAdmin/uploads/1218667962.jpg

If you look at the incomplete image you can see the shadows of where the arm / hands should be.

That reminds me...

I was once prescribed ear drops (for a toe that I had surgery on, to prevent infection)... got bored one day and read the drug information sheet, even though I wasn't using them for my ears. It stated that one of the side effects was permenant loss of hearing. o_O
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

...I'm not following. Why would it be a 3D advert?

Look at the picture. The ad has a shelf on it... it's for an in-store promo, not a magazine. Therefore it can be 3d.

It makes sense. Otherwise, she's got a rather hairy chest.

If its mean for an in store promo, there can easily be an added layer of transparent vinyl (or other media) with the missing parts printed on it. I do this sort of display all the time at work.

My guess is that whoever put that display together missed an important part.

The display isn't real. It was rendered in photoshop, or maybe a 3d modeling program. The scene itself, however, was put together in photoshop. There are tell-tale artifacts around the edge of the display and the background.

but by the placement of the shelf, and the fact that the ad cuts off on her left shoulder, wouldn't that mean that the additional part was only attached by the right elbow? so there would be half a left arm, and it would just end in mid-air. that would look just as weird, I reckon!

anyway, this thread wasn't intended to actually be about the photoshop disaster, it was just weird seeing mb on another blog! like bumping in to someone you knew from school when you're on holiday...
