Going barefoot
2009-03-10, 3:52 PM #1
Just wondering if anyone else enjoys going barefoot. Just sent an email to my College President trying to discuss the rule requiring shoes to be worn inside buildings at all times.

So go ahead post your preference. :awesome:

Barefoot all the way. Especially after you get some nice calluses built up.
There...are...FOUR...lights!

Barefoots all well and good until you step on a slug. Then its just icky.

I used to a be a barefoot/sandals kinda guy until I discovered that extra thick wool socks and a good pair of boots or shoes feels way better.

I dislike barefoot because I think feet are gross. .(
DO NOT WANT.

I like barefoot, but extended sessions of being barefoot in the flat on laminate flooring seems to disagree with the integrity of my feet.

:(
nope.

I love when people go barefoot (college students) on the city streets.

Most shoes are actually rather bad for your feet. The thinner and flatter the sole, the better. Raised heels date back to horseback riding, when the heel would be used to keep your foot in the stirrup. There's no reason for them now. They make running more difficult because it's much harder to avoid heel strikes. Bleh.

Haha, that's true, but hardcore barefooters usually have very durable feet that can take a lot more than broken glass.

It's nice, however people tend to leave pointy things on the ground...

Barefoot in a public building and typical street I don't do mostly for fear of what jackasses might leave lying around. Foot injuries are a pain in the ***. At home I'm almost always barefoot.

I prefer socks around the house, and I'll always wear shoes to go out in. My feet get cold in the house otherwise, and I'd always be worried about what I'd step in outside if I weren't wearing shoes.

And there's also the bonus of distancing myself from the Scouse girls who go out in their pyjamas >.>

But girls in pyjamas are awesome!
nope.

I used to wear socks around the house, but they get dirty, dusty and slippery. Years ago, I slipped and fell down the stairs because of dirty socks. I have never worn socks around the house since then. It's either barefoot or socks + slippers.

My old shoes are so thin I can feel what type of ground I'm on. Just like Vimes. :colbert:

I only wear socks for a day before I throw them in the wash and wear a new pair. And bonus points for wearing something called "slippers" for traction :P

Again, bonus points for the reference.

Oh yeah, I love walking barefoot through the grass, letting parasites burrow through the soles of my feet, sharing my stinky fugly feet with others in public.

Naked feet are happy feet!! I'm all about nice thick socks when my feet get cold, but when it's warm, I'm all about flip flops and barefoot in the home. (I don't go outside barefoot because my endocrinologist says barefoot and diabetes don't mix)

2009-03-10, 6:56 PM #25
I am wearing socks right now.

I only wander around barefoot when I can't be arsed to put socks on.

Picture, if you will, a grassy lawn during the night. Now picture sweeping a bright light over it and seeing a thousand tiny mutli-colored dots of light in the grass seemingly there for no reason...

Those dots of light are the light reflecting from the eyes of a thousand spiders.

You'll be paying for no shoes around here.

I can't stand being barefoot. Always wearing socks, even if I'm not going anywhere all day. Water shoes if I'm swimming.

I would do it more often, but it's really pretty dangerous.

When I was a little kid in primary school, I was so adamant about going barefoot I used to take my shoes and rip/cut out the soles, that way from above it would look like I had shoes on, but below I would feel the ground against my bare feet.
