Pommy's Poll #47: Consumer decision

A la marketing studies!

Addendums:

Attractive widget will probably last longer and give you years of mediocre functionality (which will slowly become more and more obsolete)

Ugly widget will probably break down more quickly and give you exceptional functionality until it does (it will probably break before it becomes obsolete)

How an object looks tends to influence the decision more than its functionality.
nope.

I voted exceptional.

I prefer functionality over looks. It's my dream to have a high end car look like a rusting POS.

I see a problem with this logic, a widget that breaks down more, but has exceptional functionality just doesn't make any sense

First. Because cheaply built stuff tends to break pretty damn fast.

Also, if you must know, I originally read "widget" as "midget."

By wellbuilt do you mean as in, looks attractive, or lasts long?
My computer looks like a POS, but underneath it's a nice fast machine. I call it the Millenium Falcon approach to computer design.

Oops, i meant to vote the other way!

Although ideally i'd take an ugly-as-sin sturdy-as-hell gadget with regular functionality.

Imagine something like a laptop with really high specs that has a case that breaks really easily, I guess.

I choose the well-built widget made from the best available materials, designed to last as long as possible, providing exemplary functionality.

In other words, none of your mediocre crap.

The question isn't what you'd choose or buy, but rather out of those two choices, which would you pay relatively more for.

Another way to word this poll is "Apple or Dell?"

I'd choose Lenovo.

I picked the one that lasts longer, although if I'd known Apple/Dell I would've picked "none of the above" :P
