Help! (Virus)

I got hit hard this time. I was just mapping when Internet Explorer started doing all sorts of crazy **** (I use firefox so I knew it was a virus). I went into safe mode and did the usual virus scans, but that didn't work! It caught like a gajillion viruses but it was still completely effed. I tried a system restore, and it doesn't work! I click the 'next' button on the system restore and it just sits there, not.. restoring. :argh:

Anyways. What do I do? My brother suggested a reformat and reinstall of windows, but I don't even know where to start to do that, and I lost my windows disk.

Yes, I backed up my map and crucial JA files on my brother's computer. That's not a problem. I don't even care if I have to resort to wiping it totally clean and starting from scratch, I can re-install the things I need quickly enough. All I care about is being able to edit my level again. Help?

well to start with you should find your windows disk.

run malwarebytes anti-malware and then combofix. that usually fixes anything.

I wish that were true.

I'd start with Rootkit Revealer. It wont fix your problems, but it'll give you an idea of how deep the problem is buried.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

Fortunately, Bittorrent is holding on to a backup disc for you. :v:

I think the problem originated from bittorenting, haha. I think I can find my windows disk tonight, and if I can't I'll give that a shot. But remember, I literally can't do anything on my computer as is, it's so blatantly corrupted. I have to do everything on a separate computer. This means I can't install or run any new programs or anti virus software on my computer.

both malwarebytes and combofix will remove rootkits. tdsserv is the most common, and is installed with smitfraud and virtumonde most of the time. malwarebytes will remove it. ;)

I hid the virus in those textures I gave you. Happy Birthday!

My birthday isn't for 3 1/2 months. :saddowns:

OK, so I reformatted my computer and it's completely clean. Including the drivers for everything. As a result, I can't connect to the internet because it simply won't detect it. It's plugged in and all, but it doesn't show up in the control panel at all. If I can get the internet running, I can get drivers downloaded for all my other software easily enough. I just don't know what the problem with the internet is. :(

Maybe you need to install the driver for your internet thingy.

Sounds like you need to install your drivers for your ethernet card.

If the port is on your motherboard, search for the drivers on your motherboards manufacturers website then copy them to a disk or flash drive and install on your computer.

And if that doesn't work, buy a $5-$10 network card and install it.
