No. Dvorak offers no advantages over qwerty.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

I plan to try it one summer when typing isn't critical, just for the psychological challenge. Apparently it changes the way you type forever, regardless of what layout you use. It would make sense to try to test your almost thoughtless typing process.

But I also heard a rumor that people who learn dvorak type at a slower speed on qwerty keyboards for the rest of their life.

Actually it places the commonly used programming keys in better locations and it has approx. 61% less finger movement.

Dvorak has advantages, but they aren't that great. Human hands are so ridiculously dexterous that we've adapted well enough to QWERTY. For most people, it would take far too long to learn Dvorak for it to be come advantageous.

I used dvorak for a couple of years and did find it easier to type for the most part - the only word that's harder in dvorak than qwerty is "qwerty" :p

What eventually drove me away from it was the terrible positions of the ctrl-z,x,c, and v shortcuts.

I thought Windows had an option to temporarily revert keyboard layout while holding modifier keys? That way, keyboard shortcuts are all in the same places.

I had a hard enough time going from a PC keyboard to a mac layout. Not to mention when I run Windows on my macbook, I constantly hit command when I should hit control.

Really don't want to put myself through learning an entirely different layout.
