I have an old Dell Dimension 3000 that I'm gonna use to just store crap, steam movies to my 360 etc etc. I'm gonna keep it in 'utility' closet downstairs so it's out of the way, so naturally I want it to be on all the time since I don't want to have to get in there to turn it on everytime I need to use it.
I also don't want it to be fully wake the entire time. Problem is the motherboard doesn't support Wake On LAN, and neither does the network card I'm currently using (motherboard LAN fried).
If I buy a card that supports Wake on LAN will it wake the computer when I try and access it, even though the mother board doesn't seem to support it?
