Frakking amazing ending.

Why can't all TV be as good as galactica was.

So, just to add fuel to the fire:

This means that A- the human belief system of the "gods" is false, because the "cylon" god is the "real" god.
B- all those greek names like Apollo, Python, Athena, etc, somehow survived over 100,000 years to become part of popular culture in greece thousands of years before "present day," aka in the "homer/odysseus" days.

So basically this proves that the greek gods are false.

C- Angels wear sunglasses, proving that they are cool

God damn it, who left the note about the twelve Cylon models in Adama's quarters?! And what was Gayta's secret? That he was gay?

On another note: Galactica endorses the idea that gays cannot lead the military and that the Japanese will kill us all. Discuss.

Also, what happened to the whole constellation idea which would have required the first earth they found being our actual earth (think about it)? It should also have made earth pretty easy to find (though possibly computationally expensive)

Just a plot device to explain the numbering inconsistency. They also may use him somehow in the new Caprica series.

The first Earth really was Earth, but Adama and Roslin decided to call the new planet Earth because it was the dream they'd been chasing for four years.

Yes, I got that.

There was a whole spiel about the constellations being visible from Earth when they visited Kobol, now think about what constellations we can see.

Not to mention the fact that the two earths both had the same shaped continents (aka the real shapes)

And the Earth in the end of the 3rd season had the United States AND lights, meaning non-dead people living on it.

AKA, no holocaust.

There were no lights, all visible landmasses were in daylight

Basically the series would have us believe that there were two identical planets (at least in terms of landmass) which could both see identical constellations and nebulae, but were over one million light years apart.

But...that's a blatantly preposterous picture.

How can there be so much light when the U.S. is pointed "away" from the sun?

I assume it's just an odd angle, given that they must have used a fairly decent 3D renderer I doubt they got something as trivial as shadows on a sphere significantly wrong.

It's not an error... think about it. The way the earth is lit is very dramatic. The sun also looks very dramatic. But to get the right lighting of the earth, you wouldn't be able to see the sun, because it'd be behind the camera.

So they just made a pretty sun, but didn't set it to be the source of the lighting.

Also, we came up with the plothole about the constellations too. *shrug* Given how few inconsistencies there were, i'll let it slide.

but it's not your typical plot inconsistency like a throwaway line or a gadget functioning differently in an early episode, the route to earth stuff was pretty central to the plot.
