someone on my girlfriend's floor made some today, i hate cabbage but i had a bit of the corned beef. that was tasty

Don't like cabbage as a rule. Try telling this to a Ukrainian parent growing up, see how far it gets you.

It's good if made properly. I think it was Lewis Black that talked about Irish cuisine. He said he saw a sign at a restaurant that said "Fine Irish Cuisine." ahahahahahahahaha

my ukrainian friend tried telling his mom that when we were likw 12...his 8 brothers and sisters laughed at him.

Try it.
Slow cook it all day in a croc pot.
Add potatoes and carrots and stuff.
soooo good.
Ok I hate cows. steak = sucks. burgers = barf. I'll eat corned beef and cabbage any day of the week.

Wiki says its an American "Irish" thing.

Frankly corned beef and cabbage doesnt sound like that great of a meal anyway. :P

Yes.
Well .. I actually enjoyed it .. it was after 12 hours of hard fence work in eastern Montana. So I liked the substance of it. But I did not enjoy the taste.

edit - bacon snuck in before me. thats true, which is why i probably like it.

It's a Jewish thing. The Irish came to America, and couldn't the back bacon they were used to, and corned beef was the closest thing they could find. They used it to replace the bacon in boiled bacon and cabbage.

I am of 100% Irish descent, I hate corned beef and cabbage. And then I found out they don't eat it in Ireland anyway.
I try to get the family to cook lamb and they will have none of it.
Steal my dreams and sell them back to me.....
