****ING Ants

I'm living in the basement right now and its infested with ants. If these ants were them tiny ones I wouldnt give a ****. But these things are as long as a quarter, they run fast, climb walls and other surfaces better than ANY SPIDER IV SEEN! Whats worse is that they are in my room too. One of them *******s climbed onto me when i was in bed. Another went on my computer, right across the giant 220mm fan on my p180mini case. I was just praying it wont fall in. I'v just sprayed all the windows in the basement.,.. I have no freaking idea where they are coming.

ANNNNNNND I just freaking killed one, and ant guts burst right into my ****ing eye while squished it.

****!

Anyway, post your pest related stories.

They'll set up a colony in your computer case.

Ants are amazing organisms. Did you know they retained their body's design relatively the same for millions upon millions of years?

I used to see these ants in my room but they had wings, so I don't know what they were but their bodies looked like a basic ant

You're in the basement. How's the joint where the walls and floor meet? Is there a space there, or was the concrete poured all in one piece? All it takes is the tiniest gap. Even cracks in the slab, since you're in the basement.

Assuming you can see it, that is.

When I saw the title I thought this thread would be about formicophilia.

Ants settled in my brother's iPod a while ago. They kept coming in and out of the earphone jack. I'm not sure how he got them all out in the end but I know if was hard, they must've been having a great time in there.

Yeah they are black. But they aren't carpenters though.

I really don't know. Im living off campus and the house is really old. I have no idea where they are coming from.

Right now, my kitchen floor is littered with dead ants. Its a battlefield out there.

Poison, Poison, more Poison. In fact. Bait the poisoned areas with bits of food. Like taking candy from mb.

I hate carpenter ants. They kept showing up in my upstairs bathroom a few at a time, like maybe 4-5 per day. I had a pest control guy out numerous times. When I replaced my roof I found a small groove in the sheathing that was just wide/tall enough for ants to crawl up. They were coming from a bush outside, climbing up to the 2nd floor trim by the gutter, crawling into the gutter, into that little groove, up underneath my roofing material (tarpaper & composition shingles), into another crack inside somehow, getting into the area below my 2nd floor but above the 1st (where the joists are) and eventually coming into my bathroom in the tiny crack between the toilet and the floor.

When I found the groove, I filled it up with tar before putting the new roof on and I had the pest control guy come out and spray poison and set pellets into the areas between the floor joists. I haven't seen any since.

Queens. Once a year, some of the females grow wings and fly out to start new colonies in different places. It's only a few days a year, usually in summer.

You mean the males?

Although you can see winged young queen carpenter ants few times, the winged males are the ones you often see. They go around, find queens to impregnate and die off.
