Last year I posted a fake interview with Serj Tankian that made it's way onto a bunch of big SOAD fan sites as being legitimate. This year I'm going to revamp the Serj Tankian Discussion Board and turn it into this:

I think I agree with mb.

The reason I picked Green Day is because a lot of the SOAD/Serj fans are mortal enemies of anything Green Day, but also because Serj and Green Day are both signed to Warner Bros. Records. This also gives us a legitimate excuse to give the kids as to why we are changing the board. (Serj's last album came out in October of 2007, while Green Day has a new album dropping May 15th, so we're simply saying that WBR has instructed us to start advertising for Green Day considering Serj's new album isn't dropping until later in 09)

I'm the senior editor for a parkour newsletter that goes out to 60,000+ people. Lots of parkour inside-jokes.

I kind of hate April Fools, as it's nearly impossible to accomplish anything with some people.

No amounts of jokes will improve my week this April. I've got a lot of bad news I'm dealing with.

I think greenday has contributed a lot more it it's genre than SOAD has to anything that didn't already suck.

But I guess it's a pretty good burn on Serj Tankian, so I approve.

Serj Tankian was the singer for a band called System of a Down, and people enjoy roasting me for being a fan of his. If you ask Rob, I am an obsessed fan who bases his entire life around everything Serj, but if you have half a brain, you'll realize that isn't true.

When I was about 12 years old I became pretty much obsessed with System of a Down. Up until that point I was listening to Shaggy in my mom's mini-van, completely unaware of music outside of 92.3 Pro FM, and completely blissfully ignorant towards every other aspect of life.

Serj's music and writing inspired me to pick up an instrument, to write down my thoughts, to join a band, to become politically active. Some people get inspired by family members, some by artists, some by friends- I got inspired by a musician.

That doesn't mean that I am obsessed with Serj. What it means is that I looked up to him for inspiration when I was younger, and because of that, I now play piano and guitar, I write for my school as well as other local newspapers, I am very active in my local political scene, and I consider it very important to keep up with the national and global political scenes as well.

I consider Serj to be a stepping stone, in that, when I was younger, his music inspired me to do certain things in life, but now, I'm much older, and I do not consider myself an attempted Serj clone. I write my own music, I write my own thoughts, and I have my own political views.

Now, things are a bit different. I have met Serj a few times, I consider him more of a 'good person who inspires me' more than a 'God' as I previously did. I help run his forums, I run the street team for his record label, I film and write things for it as well, and I am good friends with his cousin.

Maybe you don't enjoy his music, and maybe you don't believe in what he believes, but to call him a 'hipster rockstar with radical political views' without knowing anything about the man is insulting and immature.

This thread was made to share April Fools pranks, and being that I help Serj run his forums, I don't see how it's so inappropriate that I share my particular prank with you all.

I get that you guys get off on being jerks, and I get that to you guys, there is no greater erection-inducing pastime than throwing around middle-school insults, but in this case it's completely unwarranted and nonsensical. Grow up.
