we're talking about laptops.

Considering I paid $400 for a brandy-new laptop with a power cord, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that $80 is a little pricey. :P
woot!

Yes, I just don't understand your point.
nope.
2009-03-31, 2:00 PM #44
You can easily install windows?
2009-03-31, 2:05 PM #45
And you've lost me again.
nope.
2009-03-31, 2:08 PM #46
Well then I'm sorry that the scope of this conversation has eclipsed your ability to grasp the subject.
2009-03-31, 2:14 PM #47
Don't be sorry, I actually suspect you don't have a point and you're just trying to get a rise out of TE. :P
nope.
2009-03-31, 2:20 PM #48
I have a point sir.

IT'S AT THE END OF THIS SWORD!

Engarde!

Man, that was a terrible troll.
You can do better, try harder.
2009-03-31, 3:22 PM #50
I wasn't trolling.

Macs and PCs can both run THE SAME software.
2009-03-31, 4:55 PM #51
Not really, unless you count some sketchy setups with Hackintoshes. Otherwise, PCs can't run OS X and thus its software :p
2009-03-31, 5:25 PM #52
I, personally, would much rather own a Mac than a PC.
But I buy PCs because I can get one for a couple hundred.

If I was rich, I'd never buy a PC.
2009-03-31, 5:29 PM #53
A Mac is still a PC.
nope.
2009-03-31, 5:34 PM #54
Yeah I never got that whole, "I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC" ads, they're both PERSONAL COMPUTERS! Should be "I'm Windows, and I'm OS X."

It should be I'm a HURRRRRR and I'm a DURRRRRRRR
2009-03-31, 5:49 PM #56
:suicide: you know what I mean.

You guys are just being anal. Pretty much the whole consumer population says Mac or PC.
Including my computer teacher.

If you go to mcdonalds and ask for a chicken sandwich would you expect to get a double cheeseburger?

No?

Well thats why we have words that mean different things.
2009-03-31, 5:54 PM #58
Language evolves and unfortunately Apple has re-coined the word "PC" to mean "Non-Mac computer" despite PC standing for "Personal Computer" :carl:

That's a bad analogy, because they're both sandwiches.
nope.

Yeah I'll let you know when I pay more then $10 for one (actually I did see a $20 one once, but it was ridiculously long)

EDIT: And I do mean a laptop power cord of course
You can't judge a book by it's file size

Um, yeah, a 65W power supply. With no fan. Gimme a break, a comparison to desktop power supplies is ridiculous.

It's not an excuse to be sloppy :P

Although it does make me angry when people use nouns as verbs (which IS becoming more common and I accept it, but it just sounds WRONG to me) - e.g. to feed back, rather than to give feedback - because that IS a true evolution of the language AND IT PISSES ME RIGHT OFF.

But yeah

/carry on.

Oh just Google it.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I think they're overpriced. I'd get one if I had the extra dough, but if I can get something more or less the equivalent for less than half the price I'm going to do it.

It was a perfect analogy. Macs and PCs are both computers.

You don't go to the store and ask for a PC only to be sold a mac or vice versa.

This is what these things are called. Get over it.

Ok I will admit at the moment they are over priced and the price does need to come down, in the UK we have seen a price rise of about £200 on average on the machines, and its a hard sell when we have a goverment that like taking more money off people than putting it back in their pockets, so trying to sell Mac's these days is a hard thing to do, but we do sell about 65 units per month, and for a small company thats not bad still considering, we are looking at about 700 units across the company over all this month. So they still sell even though the prices have increased. I still belive for value for money I think they are a good solid investment and should out live a majority of Windows based computers. You have to remember Im looking at this from a comsumer retail point of view not ultra geeky playing games etc this is the average family 2.4 children etc.

I take it this all come about because of this http://www.macrumors.com/2009/03/27/new-microsoft-ad-campaign-targets-mac-prices/
