Maine is about to get hit with 71 cents for a pack of smoke tax. I'm so glad I don't smoke anymore.
I remember buying a pack with a $5 bill and getting change back.

seriously! were getting saddled with:

1 penny on the dollar increase sales tax, putting us up to 9.75%

5% "surcharge" on whatever we pay for state income tax... yes we are paying a tax on paying a tax...

a decrease of 200$ per child in dependent income credit.

as well as almost a doubling on our car licensing tax.

p.s. vote no on 1A!!!!!

And yet revenues will STILL. GO. DOWN! This state is going to collapse in on itself. The legislature can and absolutely will not curtail spending. So the geniuses up in Sacramento place the burden on the working class of CA. In the middle of a damned recession. Increasing our taxes is going oh so to help the staggering foreclosure rate, defaults on loans, and soaring debts.
