Another Doctor Who thread

So I never bothered to watch it before. Before today I caught only parts of it.

I got a phone call early today couldn't go back to sleep. Not much else was on TV, so I tune into Doctor Who. Been watching the marathon since 10:00.

Really good show!

I've wanted a sandwich since noon but I didn't want to miss any of the show walking to the store.

I remember the one or two episodes I saw had some blonde bimbo companion, now he's got some cute black chick... what's up with that?

Tell me your favorite episodes to check out.

Billie Piper was the companion for the first 2 series of the revival, Freema Agyeman [the black chick] was in the 3rd series, and whilst she's kinda cute she also can't act for ****.

Check out anything written by Stephen Moffat.
nope.

I enjoyed all enough to not go get food.

Chewbubba, you must never post again!

PS, only 2 more days! (well, really only 1 more day now...) Dr. Who Easter Special!

Sir, I think you'll find its only 4.75 hours.

It's Hexidecimal, or Base-16. Essentially numbers go 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f,10,11 etc.

10 in hex is basically 16 in base-10. [Base-10 being regular numbarzzzzz]
nope.

Does that mean I can sell my posts to people who won't buy them because they are outrageously overpriced?

I captured the postcount for posterity.

i gave the new episode only 7/10

5 of those points are related to the strong desire to bang Michelle Ryan.

In this new episode, I was sure that that woman would steal that crystal that the Doctor threw out to make the bus fly. There was even a brief close-up of it and everything. All in all, I thought it was a really good episode. I like it when UNIT is involved, and 'regular' people get involved with the Doctor. I thought Martha would make an appearance, though. She's still with UNIT, isn't she?

The Pompeii episode is awesome because all the characters are from a Cambridge Latin course schoolbook, and every British child that ever took Latin would probably have used this book (Grumio in horto laborat! Caecilius est in tablino!)

I've got a feeling Martha and Mickey are going to turn up in Torchwood.

Really though I wish Russell T Davies would stop MAKING EVERYTHING EFFING FLY.
nope.

yeah I'm pretty sure they will too, but isn't Martha in Law & Order, now?

For the moment, it's on Youtube.

I didn't bother with the tags, since that's linked only to Part 1.

Thanks for the post Chew! I just finished it. Totally awesome episode.
2009-04-11, 9:37 PM #26
Also just finished it. I agree with Ruthy's rating of 7/10. Not the best Who episode ever, but not the worst either. Not much character development. Not much "feeling sorry for this incredibly lonely being" going on since they only threw one line at it near the end.

Malcolm (or was it Bernard?) was hilarious, though. "I love you, Doctor! I love you! I love you!

I love you!"
"Harriet, sweet Harriet - hard-hearted harbinger of haggis."
2009-04-11, 9:46 PM #27
Yea, it was Malcolm I think. He names the unit after himself. He totally had a man crush on the Doctor.
I really liked the thief though.

Again, I've probably only seen like 10 episodes max so far, so I enjoyed this episode as much as the marathon entering into the Dr. Who universe.

As such, why did he not have a companion this episode?
I thought he always had one? All the eps I've seen so far he has had one. (Either the white chick or black chick ... don't know names yet..sorry if that sounds bad saying white/black chick)
2009-04-11, 10:27 PM #28
there have been 2 white chicks

Rose - the "blond bimbo" (grrrrrrr) and Donna, the red head

Him feeling sorry for himself because he always loses his companions doesn't really make sense. None of the last 3 have died, it was his choice to let Rose go and I imagine he could give Martha a call whenever he feels like it. It's only Donna who had a sad end.

I know! That's why I have a problem with the fact that they're doing everything they can to make him seem to be this tragically lonely character.

lol you got to admit though that's an accurate way to describe her if you don't know her name.

Have not seen an episode with Donna yet...

:P you have to watch season 2. It makes a lot of season 4 make sense.

Haahahahaa!!!

This made me laugh quite audibly @ Starbucks.

Edit: More comedy, you referred to Rose as "that" instead of "she." Are you jealous? Hmmmmmmmm?!

Remember that Davros forced The Doctor to see that he's turned everyone around him into killers. So that's pretty much the reason he'd be sad over Martha. As for Rose, he may have chosen to let Rose go, but that doesn't mean he actually wanted to, it'd still hurt. And no need to explain the sadness over Donna. But then you also have to remember that he thinks Jenny's dead, and all the companions from the original Doctor Who too. (and his entire race...)
