Seeking JK Saber Mod
2009-04-13, 2:40 PM #1
Hello
I am looking for a JK saber mod that allows you to turn Off the saber but keep it in the hand....a buddy who plays JK and has it but is not sure the name told me about it and it looks great

the name may be....

SBPbeta01.gob

any info or suggestions very welcome. thanks

SBX.

http://www.massassi.net/levels/files/1887.shtml

Pretty much the only saber mod you'll ever need.

This one is also excellent, but I don't believe it has the feature you described above.

GotG is for those who are looking for a saber style built around the games default, rather then a completely custom one such as SBX.

Oh man does that one EVER change the saber combat formula!

Not only does it make all the lightsabers looks like some retarded TPM fuzzy glowstick bullcrap, but it add a whole new dimension to the combat. Instead of spamming secondary fire, jump, and straife now you have a USELESS BACKFLIP to spam! And a side roll! And a kick that doesn't do dick!

It's AMAZING.

people still play JK?

i guess if you're still patiently waiting for TODOA...

Yet it revitalized JK for a few years, and managed to get a 9 with almost all positive reviews.

Yay for elitists. :downs:

I do appreciate the help. Yes i play JK, and am in fact studying it in detail and the enhancments for it, like JKE and the new texture pack.... it is a remarkable game in spite of its age and some of the levels are really well designed and fun to explore.

I do appreciate the help with info thanks again.

I'm not an elitist because I don't like dumb crap.

Unlike you, I played this dumb crap when it came out. These mods were popular SPECIFICALLY because they were released around the time that new movies were coming out.

I can remember how awesome we all thought TPM was when it came out. Now we pretty much unanimously think it sucks.

I liked TPM :x it's still the only prequel movie I liked

I also liked SBX if not just because I hated popscicle sabers and the fact that it had lightstaffs and dual sabers right before JO (which was said to have those things) made it like a placebo for JO until it came out.

Also Rob I dunno what you're talking about the side jump roll was awesome :colbert: more games need to have moves in which you can fly back and forth in strafe directions (GunZ also had this excellent feature. And don't get me started about side jumps while Z-targeting in Zelda games.)

That side roll was useless in the face of secondary fire spam.

Or shooting a bunch of people and getting kicked.
2009-04-13, 3:46 PM #12
I was being half facetious but I don't really remember so I'll take your word for it. Side jumps/dashes in GunZ and Zelda are the ****, though.

Because they're a part of the engine, and not a bunch of added keyframes that don't make you any less of a target.
2009-04-13, 4:53 PM #14
SBX is amazing, It really made my day back in the day.
2009-04-13, 4:55 PM #15
I do appreciate the discussion, it helps a lot to learn some of the nuances...

btw, does SBX really have a feature to turn off the saber while keeping it in your hand?

and yes there is a new Texture pack bey Zweir Zak, a huge set of new enhanced textures that looks very interesting, i havent tried it yet, but it looks like a major improvement of the graphics, as JKE is mostly for the NPC's and models, the texture pack is for the walls, scenes and locations....

i am thinking of trying to do the same for MotS but will see how it works first.

No doubt an outright fabrication.

A bit of the SF_Gold sort.

Maybe he was. I was playing Dark Forces at 9, though 6 does seem a little young for such things.

Not a pissing contest, just letting you know that your no all-knowing god, and that your statement about me having not played JK before SBX was, in fact, incredibly false.

Does Rob intentionally say stupid **** to stir the pot , or is he just an all around penis wipe?

Both at once.
Why is it so amazing I played JK at 6? My dad bought it because he loved DF.

How do you manage to feel this pompous over something so utterly insignificant?
