Perhaps I don't understand what this is all about, but all I see are people dressed terribly. Are they supposed to be hippies or something? Some look like whores.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I'll acknowledge my mistake. An addendum should say, "I wish it was legal to shoot both Hipsters and Scene Kids"

Whats the difference between a scene kid and a stupid hipster?
2009-04-18, 2:40 PM #21
The line between indie, hipster, hippy, goth, emo, scenester and scene is so vague and irrelivant, yet people around these parts spend their time trying to determine which one of those groups they fit into, musically and socially. I end up hanging out with a mixture of all of these people, and on top of all the indie and blues, I listen to Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Immortal Technique, and Willie Nelson. I couldn't even begin to explain what my "category" is.

I wish we could get over labeling music and just make it. All of my favorite bands are strange combination of genres that sound great together, and breaking down those barriers ends up offering a wider variety of music. That's not a bad thing.

Hipsters generally come from Brooklyn. Or at least thats where the hipster scene is really big. And I'm going to have to disagree with JediKirby. It's not really a music thing. Sure, music is associated with it (garage shows in brooklyn mostly) but it's a fashion thing.

In fact, most of that blog is populated by people who I wouldnt really call 'hipsters.'
This girl is probably the closest though: http://tinyurl.com/djbw2x

Hipsters as a whole aren't annoying.

Wow...that's forgetting about an immense amount of territory called "the rest of the world". There's hipsters everywhere, especially in cities, but everywhere. And I do so enjoy laughing at them. All in good fun! ;)

Oh I'm not saying they're not everywhere, but the hipster scene seems to be focused on Brooklyn. I'm sure every area has their hipster HQ

Man why can we return more to 40s and 50s fashion. Everyone looked classy and good. We wouldn't have any retardedly looking people e.g. scene/hipster/emo/indie.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

lmao @ thrawn.

Personally I see music genres as only a means of explaining a certain sound. Especially when your writing music in a band or as a producer and no one can hear your ideas except yourself, there needs to be a way to relate them to something else for reference.

As soon as it goes beyond that, and it becomes a genre war, then its just purely retarded. This example is greatly demonstrated in youtube comments.

Also, what that picture doesn't show are the short shorts that were sadly common back then too. :nonono:

So I went into Boston yesterday for my birthday and I showed my one friend this page and all day we would see people and say, "Look at that *#&$ing hipster."
"The world will look up and shout 'Save us!'... And I'll whisper 'No.' "
