Would anyone know of any good soundclips or soundpacks for IM clients?

I need something for Pidgin, the sounds are godawful and they blend in with my music too much. Normally I wouldn't use sound but I find myself distracted too much to constantly nurse my messages, therefore an alert is needed.

Can't you just set them to flash?

That's what I do, I effing hate soundclips like that.

I turn off all sounds except incoming msg, and I find the Pidgin sound to be just fine.

record your post with text-to-speech and use that as your im sound

because it would be f**king annoying as f**k

I turn off all sounds and just have flashing.

You can download Windows sound packs surely and use some of those sounds.

The point of the sounds, as I stated in the OP, was because I am usually busy doing other things, and not looking at the computer screen whatsoever. Therefore flashing is useless as **** on a bull.

When I was still using Trillian I changed my incoming sound to Lewis Black screaming "OH F***!" because my roommate also used Trillian and we couldn't tell which computer was receiving messages :P

Ok well heres the problem. You asked a question, some people responded with helpful posts (ie - ZZT and Pommy). You respond with "Except that all the results are generally useless"

So... we're not helpful enough? How about you try to help us by giving more information?
What kind of sound files does pidgin use? have you found anything KIND of what you need?

See if you can use the system beep (motherboard speaker) as notification. Alternatively, I have attached a sound file.

MB I took pommys post as smartass because of the content of the link, rather then helpful.

It uses standard wav files. But I've just given up on the idea.

While I wasn't trying to ridicule you or undermine you with malicious intent, I do tend to include some degree of silliness into all of my posts because the internet would be serious business if I didn't. So, I honestly was trying to help -- I was just trying to make it entertaining at the same time. Sorry if I offended you.
