I wonder if being a cop is as bad as being a fire fighter. What I have learned is, someone, somewhere, at all times is doing something stupid. If its too dry, they are burning stuff. If its too wet, they are driving like a jerk. If its the weekend, they are doing both of the above but with alcohol in their blood instead. If its a weekday afternoon, someone is beating their wife, or having chest pains, or blah blah blah....

I swear to you, I CANNOT sit down and play a game of Age of Empires without the damn pager going off. I've pretty much given up trying.

My grandfather retired from the fire department after 27 years not because he was too old to do the job, but because he was tired of doing first aid runs all the time. He missed doing actual, you know, fire fighting.

Yeah... the most pathetic call is the "Lift Assist" Which basically means either an elderly person fell and cant get up, or some fat *** who needs to exercise fell down and can't reach a prop to lift themselves with. I don't mind helping an old man or old lady up, time takes a bat to motor skills, but there's no excuse for being so fat you can't get yourself off the floor.

Our firefighters usually sleep most of the night..maybe they'll get woken up once. Highest paid FD in the state, too.
