how to tell if you have swine flu
2009-05-02, 7:09 PM #1
i may be being paranoid, but about 3 days ago i started getting sinus headaches (which i never get), which worsened up to this morning. i woke up at 5:00 am with a splitting head, a fever of 101, the chills (3 blankets makes me warm, and it's 70-ish farenheight here), and an upset stomach. my head is also pretty swishy.

could this possibly be swine flu, or as i already inquired am i being paranoid?

The spiking fever soon after initial symptoms is a major sign... if I remember correctly.

I'm not a doctor, go see one. Just don't ignore it.

BTW: The chills and upset stomach are typically just a result of the fever. If your fever goes up fast it's not unusual to get very nauseated until it "settles". Don't dismiss it though.

it [the fever] went back down about 5 hours later. this is absolutely terrible if i do have swine flu, i have 3 ap tests in less than a week, which i cant miss

Yes, die and don't miss your test. o.0

Go see a doctor.

Now.

No, right now.

Stop reading and go NOW!

I'm pretty sure vomiting and diarrhea are some things involved with the swine flu

Ban him untill he confirms he has seen a doctor.
Asking the internet about life threatening stuff is ****ing retarded.

Ah, the springs of the worried well.

Don't go to the ER, just call your general practitioner.

I'd put my money on sinusitis, considering that's where most of the symptoms are.

If you have muscle aches, or a feeling of general malaise, then that weighs more likely to a flu.

On a complete tangent I do find it funny that everyone says so emphatically to go to the physician. Criminy, it's not like he's hemorrhaging out his lungs. Oh gods he has a sinus headache and a fever! BETTER GET STARTED ON THAT WILL!

The official advice in the UK is don't go to see a doctor if you think you have swine flu. Stay indoors to prevent the spread of the disease and phone the doctor, who will then come around to see you if it is deemed necessary.

According to Steven Colbert, you should lick yourself. If you taste like bacon, you have swine flu.

Sound advice, considering it could avoid an entire waiting room of people being infected.
nope.

They've said that most of the swine flu effects are no different then most other flu's, but you definitely should get it checked regardless of what kind of flu it is.

I think WHO announced that the "swine flu" is less dangerous than your average flu.
2009-05-03, 4:58 PM #21
But that could change, it could easily start killing people once it gets into the general population.

And then anyone that posts on either side of him would also become infected, and on and on.
I wonder how long it would take for the entire community to become infected.
