Ok, I recently did a reformat of my system. Nothing really surprising, it went pretty smooth, but one thing came up that didn't come up the first time.
Under my network connections, instead of LAN and my two Firewire "networks", there was also a connection for the internet. I had both icons enabled in the system tray, so I had two sets of "computers" in the bottom. The only difference is, the internet connection did not blink at all, and just counted packets. The LAN connection stayed on constantly though, always transfering packets both ways.
This worried me a little at first, but then I thought, nah, it's just Windows Update downloading updates a little at a time. Installed NetStat and it showed me transfering about 5 KB/s in each direction, a little wierd for downloading updates.
Anyway, didn't care much about it, and just now I installed Tribes 2. Did a reboot and guess what? No internet connection in the network, but I still have the internet, and the LAN doesn't stay on constantly anymore, so just like it was before reformat. Dunno if it's a coincedence or Tribes 2 is just THAT GOOD.
Only in Windows...
