Any real soda connoisseur knows that mainstream brands are crap anyway. Coca-Cola and Pepsi are the Budweiser and Coors of soda.

Coke is great.

Meh, I like pepsi alot. But when I went to Mexico last winter I loved the pop... Coke tasted much smoother and 7up basically has a totally different flavor -- and it was way better. BTW Coors Original and Budweiser are delicious so piss off and move to Europe.

i want coke to make a throwback type thing.

then i might stop drinking diet soda...

I don't know how anyone can really think that. Either you haven't had better, or you are ITS AMERICAN CLASSIC BEER :haw: white trash

Even before I started drinking, I thought they were awful.

I heard pepsi is making a new line of soda using real sugar.

And Emon, don't get me wrong I can appreciate a delicious imported dark lager or bock, but its really not practical to drink these more expensive specialty beers and imports whilst playing beer pong and other drinking games -- so that's why I appreciate domestics.

they are: its called pepsi throwback, and mountain dew throwback.

High Fructose Corn Syrup (isoglucose/glucose-fructose) is ridiculously cheap and as such it is ridiculously unhealthy for you. Ergo, it is in EVERYTHING. Seriously. Raid your pantry and select random things and you'll stumble across HFCS on more than one occaision

They had pepsi/mt dew throwback (the sugar-sweetened stuff) on sale at Target the other day, so I bought a 12-pack of the mt. dew. It tastes pretty good, it seems a lost less tangy than the original mt. dew, if that makes sense. I don't know if they have the exact same formula and just switch out the sweetener or what, but it really tastes a lot different. I wasn't expecting that.

I don't actually have a preference, taste-wise, both are fine.
2009-05-07, 10:47 PM #12
Yep.. the same effect is apparent with 7up.. 7up made with real sugar is absolutely amazing. 750ml bottles ftw.

That's fine, but "delicious?" :barf:

The thought that cane sugar is healthier for you is a myth made up by the can sugar industry in reaction to everyone buying HFCS because it's cheaper.

The fact that it's in everything may make it easier to unknowingly consume, but there's nothing wrong with it.

Haha sorry, I just appreciate many kinds of beer. Tho the only domestic light beer I like is Bud Light.. other than that I can't stand light beer, Coors Light, Keystone, Busch, any of that ****.

Apart from the fact that it gives everything the subtle flavor of marshmallows.

i bought a bottle of the pepsi throwback... it was good... but different from what i'm used to
eat right, exercise, die anyway

Now is that because HFCS tastes like marshmallows or because marshmallows are made with HFCS?

Soda is hella gross

I don't even know what its made out of probably CHEMICAL X

and bubbles

The throwback isn't that bad, actually drinking some throwback dew as I type this. I find its almost too sweet from the HFCS I'm used to. When I originally tasted it I thought it was diet soda because of how sweet it was.

It is pretty amusing though to read the ingredients on a regular pepsi can and on that of a "throwback" pepsi can.

I wonder if the pepsi throwback taste the same as the Canadian pepsi?
\(='_'=)/
2009-05-08, 2:19 AM #23
Apparently it tastes pretty much the same as European Pepsi.

And while Coors is drinkable [Bud Isn't], it is in now way near the "delicious" category.
nope.

Hey man, Bud Light is all about the drinkability. You Brits should see the lame commercials for it. :carl:

Throwback? That must have been a brilliant meeting in the marketing department.

Theres a place down the road that imports their Coca Cola from Mexico (lolswineflu) that uses real Sugar and it tastes great.

It's because marshmallows are made with HFCS and dusted with cornstarch. The only other ingredient is gelatin so it's an easy way to catch the flavor of corn syrup if you want to compare it to other foods you eat.

Which is why I say that the 22nd flavor in Dr. Pepper is vanilla and the 23rd flavor is marshmallow.

Not that I've really got any experience otherwise, but I sort of assumed sugar was sugar. I mean, that's what it says on the ingredients list.

Well, Lucozade cites "glucose fructose syrup (24%)" but that's more a sports drink as it is. Well, "carbohydrate blend (glucose syrup, maltodextrin)" for Lucozade Sport. But I digress.

Actually, the ingredients list on my current mountain dew bottle reads: "Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, concentrated orange juice..."

No mention of any other kind of sugar.
