Yes, yes they do. Steam has really taken ahead on straight chat/joining for Valve games, since its basically integrated. But I play plenty of games that aren't on Valve, and the one-click join makes it a breeze to join people. The thing I find the most useful though is the screenshots and video recording and uploading to your profile.

If you haven't used Xfire in a while, I suggest you give it another try, as there have been a lot of changes recently. There is a webbrowser added and in the latest version, there is beta support for AIM.
