TV Buying Advice

I'm looking at buying a new HDTV. I'm looking at 32" or 37" TV, in the $500-800 range.

I came across this today, and it falls right in my wheelhouse, but I'm wondering if I should hold off for a 1080p TV. Are there any companies I should look for, or not buy? I really know nothing about this field.

I don't think you'll notice a huge difference between 720p and 1080p at that screen size. Also I've got a Toshiba DLP and I've been really happy with it.
gbk is 50 probably

There are a bunch at 699-799 at newegg.com. Regarding 1080 vs 720, on that size screen, I'm not sure how big a difference it will be. My brother and law got a 720 50" plasma (panasonic) and he loves it. I bought a panasonic 50" 1080p plasma and I love it. We both have windows in the room where the tvs are and went with panasonic because they have awesome anti-glare screens. I don't have much else to offer, sorry. I was really in the market for plasma because of the glass screen and the more awesome colors/blacks.

wait for LED.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

No doubt they'll be great, but they'll be expensive, and I can't get them now.

I'd suggest a Vizio, honestly. They're cheap, really really good, and I'd suggest going with 720p because you really won't notice that much of a difference.

Up to you though.

Agreed. However, the price should go down significantly by 2011 (see the article I linked.)

Never 'wait' for the next technology... because when it comes into your price range the NEXT thing to 'wait' for will be along to follow.

If you're getting under 40in on a TV, 720p would be acceptable.

(And, if not at least standard LCDs will go down in price since LED will be all the rage)
