Because they just posted the advancement results and I made it. So as soon as I go through the indoc class and the ceremony I'll no longer be Seaman Simon. I'll be Petty Officer Third Class Simon. :D

Rank structure goes in groupings of three.

E1 Seaman Recruit
E2 Seaman Apprentice
E3 Seaman

E4 Petty Officer 3rd Class
E5 Petty Officer 2nd Class
E6 Petty Officer 1st Class

E7 Chief Petty Officer
E8 Senior Chief Petty Officer
E9 Master Chief Petty Officer

So this one's kinda a big deal. And it will put me in charge of working parties and whatnot (or will as soon as I get out of school and get to my ship) as well as a pay raise. :D

when you say you will be put in charge of working parties would that mean you are in charge of the seamen?

Funny. I have a friend Jimmy Poole. (Who is in fact a seaman.)

Also knew a female sailor named Seaman Guzzler.
And another male sailor named Seaman Sample.

You just have to ignore that kind of stuff.

If I was physically capable, I'd love to be a seal. Bum leg FTL.
