There is no better speech in the history of film than Bluto's speech in Animal House.

If I do hit that rope and do a hop, skip and a jump and get up as high as I can, I'm just going to hold my breath, because I know i'm going to hear all kinds of scar tissue popping.

Théoden's speech at Pelennor Fields. To me, Bernard Hill's rendition of this speech soars high above any other epic movie speeches. This speech still gives me goosebumps to this day when I think of it. It just gets the adrenaline pumping.

Forth! Down fear of darkness!
Arise! Arise, Riders of Théoden!
Spears shall be shaken,
shields shall be splintered!
A sword day...
A red day...
ere the sun rises!

Ride now! Ride now!

Ride! Ride for ruin,
and the world's ending!

Deeeeeeaaaaaaaath!

That's originally Éomer's speech after his father dies.

I read the books in french a long time ago, I've not had a chance to read them in english. :( And is that another movie change, that Éomer's dad is part of the books? Because in the movies he's long dead. I can't remember the books for the life of me.

Still, Bernard Hill did such an amazing job. Honestly, I don't see Karl Urban doing as good a job. He's a decent actor for the most part, hell he was excellent in Star Trek, but I can't see him making it as powerful.

Third for Independence Day.

Théoden is Éomer's uncle and adopted father. Éomer is the one who is exiled for the death of Théoden's blood son Théodred, and was the guy who gives the horses to the 3 left over from the fellowship. He also happens to be the succeeding king of Rohan after that speech.

I know that, except I was just not aware that Théoden was officially his adoptive father, so it threw me off when you said "when his father dies." :)

Since I just watched the BSG mini series for the first time and want to be different, how about Adama's speech at the end?

Sir Anthony Hopkins delivered a pretty good, if rather long-winded speech in Amistad.

Al Pacino's speech "Peace by inches" in the movie Any Given Sunday is pretty cool... but not really appropriate for what you're doing..

Some of the speeches made by churchill would be worth a look, it could maybe be said there wasn't that much emotion put in them, but reading the words, there certainly was, churchill has a way of reading that gets across the emotion without it feeling overwhelming.

This is pretty much perfect.

I'm thinking the scene with the go on either side of the line would be freaking awesome to do.
