Last year, I received HL2 and HL:Ep1 as a gift. It was my understanding that some features were not available from the gifted version, like achievements.

Anyway, I bought the Orange Box through Steam a few weeks ago (on the sale that was posted here) and gave away HL2 and Ep1 since I had already received them.

I just finished acquiring all the achievements in Ep2 (yay!), but they aren't available in HL2 or Ep1 eventhough I bought the Orange Box.

Shouldn't I be able to collect achievements in HL2 and Ep1 since I bought the Orange Box, or am I misunderstanding something?

HL2 doesn't have achievements. I don't think Episode One has them either. Then again, I don't remember. I know HL2 doesn't.
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

Episode 2 is when they started with Achievements in the HL series, they didn't do any retroactive ones for the earlier stuff

Maybe steam figures that you gave away the new versions, and kept the non-achievement version?

the only HL2 and HL2E1 achievements are on the xbox 360 version

valve could eventually decide to add achievements to HL2 and E1 later on but i don't see it happening any time soon
