I wish Sega could do something like this to the Sonic series. That would be awesome.

That looks frustrating yet awesome.

Keep in mind there is no actual game in that. It's nothing more than an animation of what could be.

Ahhh... hadn't noticed. Nevertheless, MM2 is one of my favourite ever games. I loved that Megaman 9 demo on XBL (I no longer have the patience to pay money for the full game).

Metal blades were pretty much the ultimate weapon in that game.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Really? Even with the other video I saw a while back? It seemed like it was an actual working engine... Why would someone go to such elaborate lengths to make Proof of Concept videos? It would seem to me to be EASIER to code the engine than code individual enemy movements, individual shots, individual camera and player movements for a video.

Will Capcom let them release that game for free or will they be anal like SquareEnix and Nintendo? Oh and yeah....Sonic is a lost cause. His next game his some car racing game. Why he needs a car is beyond me. Maybe age is catching up with him or something. I mean he can't even outrun Mario in the Olympics.

The only thing "awesome" with the Sonic games would be if they just permanently retire it. Of course, the argument goes "well, you don't HAVE to buy the games."

To that I say the Sonic fanbase has to be the most warped and terrible one I've ever seen. Their twisted crap comes up ever so often on the internet.

Surely they can't be worse than die hard Metallica fans?
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Have you ever seen poorly-written Metallica watersports fanfic? I know I haven't. How about someone with an imaginary abusive relationship with Lars Ulrich who wants him to vomit on her but doesn't feel worthy?
Why do the heathens rage behind the firehouse?

I like 2d sonic games. There is no hidden meaning. It's really a one dimensional statement.

I dunno - if they made an XBL/PSN release à la Megaman 9 which was just using the Sonic 2 engine (that's just my personal favourite) with new, WELL DESIGNED levels I'd drop £10 on it.

They just need to stop trying to make a game which was based on flow, speed, and 2 dimensions into everything it wasn't.

If you like Sonic, you'll love Dino Run:

I'm entirely in love with this game. It takes a little learning to understand how to beat all the tracks and get the hidden areas, but once you do it becomes as challenging as early 2D games are. The difference is that I actually want to unlock everything in this game where I never did in any other flash game I've ever played.
