I have a few computers just hanging around and was thinking of making them useful in some way. They are all a few years old, and have XP on them.

What I want to do is have a computer dedicated to running game servers, as well as hosting files for a group of like ten people. Just a way my friends and I can exchange files and play games. Maybe create a VPN or something that can provide the functionality of hamachi as far as games are concerned.

I would also like to access the servers remotely, as I'll be in NYC or where ever and the computers will be with my parents in Cali.

Basically, I just need to know where to get started, or if the idea isn't worth the time. Thanks for the help!
