Confession: I now like Barbie

My 6 yr old daughter is into the Barbie videos right now, so the air in our house is saturated with Barbie tunes.

This one in particular caught my ear. The singing is great, the songwriting is also great, the lyrics... well... anyway...

This song made my eyes water. My wife said I'm PMSing. It's not too special until the chorus. Then the duet at the end is fantastic. Great singing voices. I've been humming the melody all morning.

[EDIT: The previous video was the canned "music video", not the version in the movie. Here's a crap version on Youtube of what I was talking about. Song starts at 5:32. Chorus @ 6:55. Duet @ 8:32. It helps that the London Symphony Orchestra is providing backup.]

"Harriet, sweet Harriet - hard-hearted harbinger of haggis."

verdict: Yes you're PMSing.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

I think it's because it reminds me (not sure how... maybe the high notes) of this tune from the movie "Rigoletto", where a misunderstood ugly man teaches a young girl to sing. While she's winning a singing competition, mob-mentality pushes the townspeople to beat the ugly man to death and destroy his home. Quite a contrast that makes me teary-eyed.

I think I'll go cut myself now.

[EDIT: Embedding denied - I think I have the worst luck with youtube and these forums]

I just watched that...what a powerful scene. Had me in tears.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

My friend, you fail.

Melissa Lyons does the singing for Barbie and Kelly Sheridan does the speaking voice.

No, you fail. I found a picture of the singer from little mermaid RIGHT NEXT TO BARBIE. What more do you need?

Fincham: Where are you going?
Me: I have no idea
Fincham: I meant where are you sitting. This wasn't an existential question.
