I have an 8gb usb drive that I was transfering files to, when the power decided to go out. Now said files that were being sent got corrupted, and I can't delete the corrupted copies on the usb (they have random characters of all types in them). Whenever I try to delete one of those files I get the follow error:

Cannot delete file: Unable to read disk or file of origin.

I know I should just backup the uncorrupted files and format the thing, but I was wondering if there was another way to do it.

I dunno, formatting works well. There was a tool I used to use for similar problems on my PC called "Remove on Reboot" it always worked like a charm but that wouldn't help you here. :eng101:

Great... my FX5200 just failed as well. The power out really damaged the computer. Now I'm afraid the motherboard might go as well. Now only the laptop can function.

Run chkdsk /f on the drive.
