Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian

Did anybody watch it? Was it good?

I'm trying to decide if it is worth watching on NBC.com.

I hear Pearl Jam were on it.
nope.

I think I'd wait a few shows before I make a decision. For example the first show didn't have the monologue, just a lot of skits. But I really like the set, and Conan seems to be settling well into the new time slot - because in reality that's all that's changed besides the show's location.

Absolutely hilarious. I love Conan so much, infinitely better than Leno.

I watched Conan's first and second episodes, and I was like "Oh man, Conan is the best" and then after Conan last night I was watching Craig Ferguson, and I instantly realized why he's by far a million times better than Conan or any other late night host could ever be.

Craig Ferguson owns.

Not to hi-jack this thread, BUT- I am. NOBODY MOVE! *ratatatatatata* <- Gun sounds

Craig Ferguson's genius comes in that he refuses to have rehearsals before the show, and also he writes for himself. So all of his jokes are one natural and smooth stream of conscious. It isn't set up and delivered one by one in an obvious order. For example:

How can you not love that mans opening monologue? He's a genius.

Last night he was mad at the producers (or someone) for telling him to be more edgy and appealing to kids, and he spent the entire episode slamming the network (or whomever), and it was hilarious. I love the fact that he's so honest and also that he never seems set up. Everything on his show is funny because most of it happens on the spot (or so it seems)

I saw the first and second. I liked the second better, partially because Tom Hanks talked about In-and-Out Burger, but Conan seemed a little more comfortable. It's almost like he's not used to a bigger audience when you see him on stage, but I think he'll get the hang of it.

I'll give him a bit longer. I thought the first and second shows were good, not his best, but good.

I like Conan more than Ferguson because Ferguson's skits sometimes still get a tad outrageous. On Monday the one where he did the Access Extratainment weekly thing was just terribly terribly terribly random. Conan still keeps it in the realm when he does his monologues, plus adds a little self-depreciation, whereas Ferguson seems to go on some wild (occasionally funny) tangents.

Also, SAJN, no one makes fun of their network like Conan. He's been slamming NBC for years and years and years, haha. Again, part of his whole self-depreciation schtick.

You do know he's only had two shows right? Either one is better than the other, or the other is better than the other.

Hanks getting hit by a meteor was pretty funny.

You do know he had his own late night show before the Tonight Show, right?

I wasn't aware I couldn't compare his new show to the 15 years of his other show...

I LOVE Craig! I also loved Leno, and I never found Conan funny, so I doubt I'll be watching the show at all. I was really sad when I heard Conan was taking over... and i still am honestly...

The best part about Conan's switch is now I don't have to decide between craig and Conan.

In the yeaaar 3000...

I'm not a fan of Andy, he was funny way back when conan was that kinda guy, but he needs to class up a bit with his new show, not revert back to his career beginning.

I liked the first opening, missed Tuesday's, and last night's I thought was hit-and-miss. Maybe he just needs a little time to fall into the groove for the Tonight Show.

Craig Ferguson is my favorite. Last night he lip-synched Istanbul by They Might Be Giants before the show for absolutely no reason. It was hilarious. I have always liked him alot more than Conan, and I am starting to like him even more than Letterman too.
