I just finished my first little run through, and am about to finish alpha labs 1. (I play at this LAN place if you care, so I don't get to play often )

So far, the imp in the stairs, zombie appearing behind you and the chair were all pretty freaky. The chair takes the cake for some reason though. The screen went red, I'm like "What the ****? Some kinda super power?" Then the chair just... hit me -_-. The only time I've died so far, is when the zombie popped out behind me. I had my flashlight out (it's nearly pitch black) then for some reason I stoped moving, started taking damage, disorienting me, then I was surounded by zombies, whilst trying to whack them with my flashlight. Yeah I kinda died. I also died by a misthrow of a grenade, forgot round things tend to bounce off walls.

Yeah, that part scared the crap outta me.

Heheh yeah. That was freaky.
But I never saw the footprints. I just went left anyway.
The monkey (imp) behind the stairs freaked me out the first time.
2nd time it got a shotgun blast aimed at it.

Delta Labs. After you finally get there, and there's the specimin tanks. When you go through and for whatever reason I saved the Imp for last because he looked "complete". When I finally went to look at him, I downloaded the list to my PDA, and then got nice and close to him, because you never get a close look in the game and it was a treat. Then he bashed on the glass and the sound was so freaking loud. I fell out of my chair.

I didn't really get scared that much in Doom3...

The fight against the giant... thing. With the seekers everywhere. And the soul cube is like "The seekers, kill the seekers!".. It just freaked me out, I dunno why.

The only time I was really scared was when the screen went red and a demon poked it's head through the door and said something in Latin or Aramaic or whatever. Mind you I was playing at 1:00AM, with headphones on.

As soon as I get a new computer and doom 3 I'm getting surround sound 5.1 speakers. If I play while my parents and such aren't home, I will take off my headphones and blast the sound I already use headphones, and wolf3d still scares me sometimes at full blast.

The scary part for me was not in game. I was playing with headphones on and just got past the part with the chair. My friend decides that was good time to tap my shoulder.

Prowling out of the tundra, swinging a jeweled meat hammer, cometh Outlaw Torn! And he gives a gutteral bellow:

"I'm seriously going to hump you until you scream like a banshee!"

Same thing. Literally jumped out of my chair.

The first time that evil voice started speaking in latin (as mentioned above) got me running toward the nearest door I could see, then a Hellknight (is it spaced or not?) popped its head through it and I felt my heart jump into my throat. I have no excuse as to why it scared me, other than I am frail.

Another really creepy moment is when the halls start lighting up with those satanic symbols, and it's moving toward you and howling. Also, if you ever get a chance to just sit and listen to Lost Souls congregating in a nearby room, that's a spine tingling experience.

I jumped a lot playing this game because I for some reason could really get into it, I just like being scared. I'd always play it in near total darkness, literally the only light coming from my monitor, and of course the speakers were always loud.
