Dear massassi, it certainly has been a while. Some nights I will wake in a cold green sweat, and then the memories flood in of this mysterious place.

I suppose, though I am posting I will likely be dead from this site for the next 8 months or so. But until then I have some questions only talented peoples such as yourselves can answer, because you've had more time to research.

Basically, I'm wondering if there is a way to get an updated version of flash on an iPod touch 2 and if there is a better web browser for it. Safari sucks anus.
My blawgh.

The cold, green sweat is most likely a side effect of your Tylenol PM.

Speaking of which.......

There are currently no plans to bring flash to the iphone/touch, unlike every other phone in existence. Thank Apple for that.

So you can't watch YouTube videos on an iPhone?

edit: nevermind.

You can watch youtube videos, but only because youtube has an alternate player that isnt flash based.

A friend and I talked about this just today and we came to the same conclusion.

The reason why the iPhone doesnt have Flash is because of the developers SDK. In order for Adobe to get Flash to work properly, they would have needed broader access than the SDK allows.

Actually it really has nothing to do with the SDK. Apple and Adobe have been collaborating on making an iPhone version of Flash, but Adobe's not yet produced something that Apple is satisfied with. Apple doesn't just want Flash Lite ported to the iPhone, instead they want a new version that is closer to the PC version of Flash in terms of features. Of course the problem they're running into then is that they're having a hard time making such a version of Flash that doesn't suck performance-wise. Will they ever come up with something that Apple likes enough to throw into mobile Safari? Maybe, maybe not.

Meanwhile, every other (and I do mean every) phone company has already signed on with Adobe for flash support either now or in the near future. Apple is the only one who hasn't, and as stated, who knows when they will.

Those are the words I heard straight from Adobe at FITC. They didn't have enough back-end access to get flash working.

That's why Adobe can't just write an app themselves without any cooperation from Apple, yes. That doesn't prevent them from working together on an enhancement to Safari that gets pushed out in a firmware update though.

Nothing except Apple being its usual self. "We have to do it our way or it won't happen at all!"

There's no reason it couldn't happen; Apple just doesn't want to play nice. Not that this is news or anything.

tl;dr: Apple sucks.

I'd say it is far more likely that you will be dead from whatever is causing you to wake in a cold, green sweat.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

Sounds awfully familiar to the situation where Sun's Java VM releases are around 5 years old for OS X because Apple is :downs:
