Arizona is awesome, especially Sedona, Phoenix, and Flagstaff. I wish I could visit there this summer.

Not on the flight, but yeah I can.

$500 for a ten day vacation isn't too bad, IMHO.

do you have to be some air marshal to carry an assault rifle/sniper rifle/pistol/revolver/submachine gun/machine gun/etc. on an airplane?

To carry a firearm on a commercial flight, you have to have a legitimate law enforcement purpose & a bunch of paperwork has to be done.

If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

You can, however, transport the firearm with your luggage, so you can take your own with you if you are able to carry at your destination. ;)

'tis the plan. :)

I think I'm going to lock the case in my luggage, though - last time I used a gun case, they just sent it out on the conveyor with everybody's luggage...fortunately I was there to grab it before someone else thought 'ooh, free gun'. :carl:

That's probably a good idea. For all their concern over what goes INTO their planes, they sure don't give a damn what happens to it once it's out.

Nope. I'm also pretty surprised that they don't encourage off duty LEO's to carry on flights...free security, really. Ahwell.

I will take some flexcuffs though, in the off chance that this happens again. I'd rather not have to sit there and hold a belt for hours. :P

I'm really sure every two-bit officer out there (rural county types especially) havs enough discretion to use a firearm on a pressurized tin can 30,000 feet in the air.

Not only does he harass people while he's at work and they can't do anything a bout it, he does it over the internet too. And soon to be other states!

Go volunteer or something.

The whole "wahhh the cops are harassing people blah blah blah" mentality. Though it's usually from drunks.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with a military guy. Maybe it's just the e-impression that's wrong.

I've often considered having some cuffs with me when I'm carrying especially at home (can't exactly force a guy who broke in to stay on my floor at gunpoint. What am I going to do, shoot him in the back on my porch if he runs?). Flexcuffs is a good idea, although I bet the airline will be suspicious of that. Have you talked to them about it? How do they feel?

Oh yeah, and regarding Phoenix, you gotta at least stop by Tempe while you're there. It's pretty cool. Also, try the wings at The Vine at Rural and Apache if you're down there. They're almost identical to the ones my friend's mom makes, and she's from Buffalo. It doesn't get any more authentic than that.

How long do you think it'll be until JLee gets murdered... again? :P
I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

They're not the bulky ziptie flexcuffs - they're like this. I haven't asked the airline - I'll just toss a few in my carryon..if it becomes an issue, I just won't bring them. They're about the size of a shoelace.

I'll have to do that - definitely going to spend some time in Tempe (also riding with Tempe PD). :)

I have never seen those before, that is awesome. I need those...haha.

And that is also awesome that you'll be riding with Tempe PD. I would love to ride with the police anywhere around there...I bet it'd be a lot more interesting than around here.

I'm going to try to ride with Vegas Metro too. :D

Tempe is accepting applications as of July 27th. I'm going to give it a shot.

I went back to AZ a summer or two ago to visit a friend's dad with him in August. The weather was perfect...it was the beginning of monsoon season and honestly it was much cooler and more pleasant than it was in Oklahoma when we left, where it was 10-20 degrees hotter and way more humid. Somehow I doubt you will be so lucky.

Phoenix is ok.

Flagstaff and Sedona are great, especially during the summer since it's not so damn hot.

Make sure you don't get drugged in Vegas and definitely be sure not to wake up with Mike Tyson's tiger in your bathroom. But you can definitely have a cop car, since that's legit for people like you.
