So my birthday was 2 days ago. Someone feel free to post one of those perry bible comic things.

So I got a Tokina 11-16mm Camera Lens for my birthday. It's an ultra-wide angle lens, AKA it lets MORE in the image than usual, and somewhat distorts it with a "fisheye" effect (although "fisheye" lenses do a better job at this, this is close to being one).

Here are a few shots from today, the first day I really got to play with it.

happy birthday!

Thats really awesome. I really like wide angle lenses. I took one (not sure which off the top of my head) to the NY Auto show and got awesome shots of some cars.

How wide does it open up? My guess is it should get to about f1.2 or so, and if that is the case, then yes you do have a fine lens, although I prefer prime lenses, and having the length range from 11-16mm seems kinda pointless.

It's f/2.8.

All my other lenses are f/4, so I was excited to get something faster.

If this was a prime instead of a zoom, then it would more likely be something faster like a 2.4 or 1.8 or 1.2

Oh that's right... I always forget that zoom lenses aren't as fast as prime lenses.

Nice lense, just don't go all sk8r boi with your photos or anything. Wide angle lenses can have that effect on people.

Skate videos used to rape the fisheye lense. Dunno about skateboarding but rollerblading videos have gotten a lot better about it.
