Part of the internet-spanning effort to help the civil rights protests throughout Iran. I wonder if anyone on the streets of Tehran can actually put this information to use, so far the demonstrators have been baton fodder for the savage militia man let loose on the crowds by the government.

In this video they seem to have the upper hand though

I'll tell you if that was happening here, how I'd deal with it. I'll give you a hint: That guy shooting at the crowd wouldn't be shooting for very long.

For the utterly uninformed, Whats a Basij?
So.. Those are protesters, running from riot cops, and one of them is firing?

The Basij are sort of like the militia/police for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, or at least that's how I understand it. And no, you've got it backwards i think, the ones running away are the basij and the ones chasing are the rioters.

They're like the Hitler Youth, but not necessarily youthful and also they work for the Ayatollah instead of Hitler

Sad, yet this proves that there's at least a glimmer of hope left in mankind (the rioting against a corrupt government, that is).

Yeah, if only Americans weren't too lazy to do that too.

Yeah, because Bush totally fixed that election to remain in power; Obama should be president instead!

Back during the riots in Copenhagen, I remember seeing a lot of this kind of advice. IIRC, cloth soaked in laundry detergent also does a good job of repelling tear gas.

Of course, Copenhagen is kind minor-league rioting. I don't think their police have ever reported more than twenty shots fired in a year.

I'm not referring to the president.

exactly. In the context of these protetes, they're a bunch of bullies who got a green light to freely club, axe and shoot demonstrators as much and however they like. That's in addition to the brutal riot police and the Revolutionary Guard (some sort of S.S./Gestapo type force) who are all out on the streets breaking the bones of whoever stands still in public places.

That sent a shiver down my spine. This is a revolution happening right now, and its only going to end in one bloody mess :(

All my anti-american feelings aside, because I would like to say: "Yeah Irak had weapons of mass destruction, let's invade. Hitler II in Iran, America doesn't invade?" But I guess it's a political game being played here, and you can't put the blame on America every time something bad happens in the world. But frickin' christ, bomb the hell out of that Ayatollah!
That movie (from Fardreamer) really shocked me. I think the whole world should boycot anything that comes from and goes to Iran. What a horrible, horrible situation.

That's because when the Iraq war started we had neocons in power, and currently we have people in power who DON'T think America should constantly interfere in other countries' business. That's why Iran hates us in the first place.

I hope your distaste is for the American government and not its people, we were not directly responsible for Iraq.

Well, the people were in support of it.

They were also lied to and misled though.

The American people are scared, simple, mislead, uninformed, and under-educated about what is important. ESPECIALLY those who think they're MOST educated.

And the american government is made up of those people, except with power. More and more as the days go by.

It's no wonder we don't have foreign policy that makes sense.
