Converting CSV files to Excel
2009-06-29, 10:54 AM #1
So I have a large list of e-mails and I need to put them into a spread sheet before I send out a mass e-mail. The program I am using to send out e-mails requires all your e-mails to be in an excel format, but right now I just have a large cluster of a CSV file- so i was wondering if anyone knew of a good way / program to take a CSV file and convert it to an excel file.

Also, I don't know if there is a .csv file, but the list exports itself as a .php file. I'm pretty sure CSV is just the format that it's in.

Excel has a function that imports csv files. I forget where it is, but it should be under some sort of "import data" label.

As long as the file really is just text with comma separated values, anyway. if not, I dunno.

Shouldn't even need a special import, Excel reads .csv as it is.

If it's a .php file, then it's not a .csv file (even though it might be in the comma delimited format). You can try opening the .php file with notepad and resaving it with the .csv extension and then opening it in Excel.

...and once you open it in excel, you need to resave it as an xls so whatever program you are using can read it.

Also, how big is your list? I'd highly recommend using MailChimp it's small enough to qualify for the free account.

The e-mail list is between 16 - 20,000 e-mails.
