So long story short, company I work for is selling the location I'm centered at. The nearest ones they have are 20 to 30 minutes away. They haven't offered me any benefits if I take it yet, but I'm not sure if I should based on the possible 30 mile drive everyday along with school coming up and my plan for that.

Oh, and we don't know if they company buying it is going to keep the location open or not, or if it'll hire any of the old employees

so yea, go for it or not?

20-30 minute drive isn't really all that brutal. If it pays decently and you enjoy it, go for it.
2009-07-01, 6:48 AM #3
Go for it until you find something closer?
nope.

Seems like unless you're making a lot of money, then the lack of job safety isnt worth it. Also, who's Gozillia?

Agreed. I spent a year and a half (during college) driving 25 minutes to my job. I actually ended up liking the drive, since it gave me time to relax during the day.

yeah, that amount of drive time is pretty nice, I can't get to downtown from here that fast in rush hour. I used to do 45-60 min drives to work.

30 minutes isn't bad. I've done 60 minutes before. When gas hit $4 I was paying about $100 a week in gas. That was with a car that got ~30MPG.

Are there no public transportation options?

Personally, I enjoy to drive for periods at a time (if there are no traffic problems). It helps me think. But then there are gas prices.

Hibbing or Chisholm
jsm i'm not sure about right yet

and, this isn't a metro-type drive at all, this is open country for the most part, so, 30 minutes equal 30 miles type dealio, and no public transportation that would run anywhere near my schedule, i think there is one setup, but not worth it

I'm not following you :P

If it takes 30 mins to cover 30 miles, he's clearly going 60 mph.

I don't see where you get your 300 miles from :P

I used to drive 100 miles each day to go to school & another 60 to go to work. 30 minutes isn't a big deal if you're making decent money.
