Tonight, for no special reason, I am going to run through MotS in its entirety. I am hoping to record this and would like if you could tell me how to get fraps videos down to a reasonable size for this, and if its possible to televise it online through something.

If you dont have anything to say about that, then share similar things you have done.

I once tried to play through JK using just fists. I think I got to level 5 and just gave up.

Hmm, thats interesting. Trying to kill all the dark jedi with just fists.
Nothing to see here, move along.

The only one I could REALLY see it being hard on is Jerec. Causing enough damage before he runs and regenerates would be a pain. Maybe Maw cause he's flying around. The rest would just take time and good use of force speed.
Life is beautiful.

I played through JK with just the saber (after level 3, of course), but I think a lot of people have probably done this.

The enemy I found the hardest was BOC, the rest were push overs.

Oh yeah, Boc takes an incredible amount of damage.

For an eye-opening experience, try killing him with the raildet or conc rifle; watch how long it takes.

No idea, but may the force be with you.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

Finished a test run with FRAPs, Looks like all systems are go!
I'm going to record this as material for a potential LP, But if I found a way to steam this online that would be pretty cool.
Oh, Fraps refuses to record sound directly, I put a mic near the speaker and it works suprisingly well.

Ew

Try opening sndvol32.exe and going to Options > Properties, clicking Recording and OK. Then you can select a device to record from. Most apps will say Microphone but they will actually use whatever is selected here, "Stereo Mix" is the most appropriate. This records a direct digital copy of whatever the computer is playing through your speakers/headset. Better quality.

This only applies to XP and older. On Vista these options are further hidden in the Sound control panel (you want to go to the recording tab I believe, and then into the properties for the Microphone, and it's in there somewhere).

Do this in the future if audio recording a game's DirectSound output directly isn't working or isn't possible.

I agree. The leaping freaks can take you down with just a bite or two.

THankfully the vornskr areas are filled with nice high ledges where you can hide and blast at them with force destruction. That was my usual tactic, anyway.

if you are wanting to record the entire mots playthrough while playing through in one sitting it would be best to first of all make sure oyu have plenty of HD space and possibly run the game at a low resolution with half size recording to keep the size while recording down...

out of curiosity why do you wish to record it?

An LP?
2009-07-04, 6:23 PM #28
A long-playing disc?
nope.

A "Let's Play." It's done on SA where someone posts a thread where they play through a game and post either video or screen shots of their playthrough.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Bingo. I figure it's a good way to introduce myself the internet at large and learn how to use some video/sound editing programs while im at it.

Dark Jedi are flagged so that the oy damage they can take is lightsaber, force and impact damage. This is why you can kill Jerec with 30 mines, the explosion doesn't hurt him but the impact does. :XD:

why would a steady job matter? it's a one time $10 fee... (unless you want upgrades which cost extra... or you get banned then it costs more)

No it doesn't (unless you're using the demo version IIRC).

Double click on volume controls, Options -> Properties -> Recording. Umute STEREO. Try again.

Don't forget to mute it after you're done, though, or you'll get megastatic of death in your mike when you try to use it.
