Why are you people doing this all of a sudden? Stop it. It's dumb. I'll use the most recent as an example:

[Tech] Scratched CD's/DVD's?

Thank you for pointing out something that is already implied in the title. I could not have discerned what the thread would contain with such a broad, generic description. These tags are really beneficial, what with the wide variety of topics discussed here.

In short, cut it out. Stop being stupid. :colbert:

I think it was originally a behaviour carried over from SA, where there are actual thread tags - a lot of the early ones were [SH/SC] which refers to a specific SA subforum.

But yeah, there's really no point.

I understand what the tags are and where they come from. What I am saying is that all of a sudden people started tagging their threads this way. And it's ****ing stupid, because they're unnecessary on this forum.

No, no tags period. They serve no purpose but the make the title longer. The more we as a society cater to and pander to stupid, asinine behaviours, the further down into the depths we go.

I've been meaning to post about this. What also bothers me are worthless thread titles that do not indicate what is inside the thread.

Actually I like when people post [tech]. If I'm scanning through threads, I'm not reading each title in full. The tag helps me figure out instantly if I care enough at the moment to read about a tech problem.

The tech forum would still get rather frequent use unlike any other forum besides Main Discussion.

It would make the forum main page rather lonely. And wait, when was the Showcase forum's description changed from "Show off your lastest" work to the current one?

No you don't. Massassi has been ripping off Something Awful since the day it existed, recycling garbage like AYB and image macros and img-timeline full years after it was banned on sites with genuine funny people. The only difference between Massassi today and Massassi of 8 years ago is the fact that now you're at least aware of where all of your jokes come from.

Do thread titles REALLY bother you guys that much that you must rant about it.. geez I wish I had your lives were all I had to worry about was what other peoples thread titles are.
