How did everyone like it? Keeping in mind I haven't and have no intentions of reading the books, I personally thought it was the best of the series. I'm just happy that the no-longer child actors are capable of acting now. So overall I felt the movie was well shot, scored, and acted.

The books were orders of magnitude better than the movies. And I didn't like the books enough to read past the fourth.

If the acting is as decent as the previous installment, the setting and feel is as dark, and we are rid of that ridiculous gib with that new idiot headmistress and the troubles with the ministry of magic, it should be good.

Score.

That silly headmistress plot just completely pulled me out of a movie I was at first very excited about. I loved the setting and whatnot. She ruined it for me. It reminded me all too much that I was watching a kid movie.

she was in the book... in fact it was a major part of the book

anyway HBP makes up for the extremely disappointing OoTP

the only things that annoyed me about this one are

the death eater attack on the weasley home that never happened in the book... the continued use of black smoke trail effects with the death eaters, seriously WTF?... and the continued absence of the older weasley children especially bill

Truthfully, I thought it was splendid.

My favorite movie of the series thus far.

I felt it was entertaining for the first half, but didn't really get exciting until the second, starting with the presentation of the potions professor's correct memory. One thing that bothered me was that they didn't at all explain why Harry should burn the book of the Half Blood Prince. Also, why didn't Harry get in trouble for tearing the **** out of Malfoy? Didn't they get in trouble just for dueling in the second book?

I actually didn't like it all too much. I did read the books, but it's been awhile and I have a bad memory. The movie just seemed rushed to me and there really wasn't any depth...in any aspect of the movie. Dumbledore's death wasn't really all that heart retching, which I was disappointing. A major character dies and there really didn't seem to be any emotion behind it. I will agree about the acting though...it's gotten better.

He's crap at Dumbledore.
nope.
2009-07-17, 5:43 PM #27
Yeah, Gambon really let me down in this one. In fact, the only two scenes are was really looking forward to (the death scene and when harry runs after Snape) were really lame and could have been a lot more intense.

Also, I wanted the "You are with me"/"I am with you" lines. :( :( And Snape's "Don't call me coward!"

The books got worse as they went along, the movies are getting better.

This movie, and (especially) the last, are actually better than the books. I didn't think that could happen but there it is
