do what your heart tells you. make a goal and do everything in your power to follow through with it.
Peace is a lie
There is only passion
Through passion I gain strength
Through strength I gain power
Through power I gain victory
Through victory my chains are broken
The Force shall set me free

Because that line of thought has worked out very well for people like Ted Bundy, John Hinkley, etc... Do what your heart tells you! Sure.

I seem to be more inclined to joining the military now. Of course you know my father takes negative news as signs of prophecy, and dismisses sources (without considering them) that wrap up the current times with "its been worse before, and even before 1914, but it can and will get better" (significant religious date for my dad). And even if it does get better, that is till a sign. UGH! So everything is a sign by his logic, which from a certain point of view, actually might make some sense, but its stretching things pretty far. Now I'm getting into the bilderberg group conspiracy :tinfoil: more than into the bible. That seems to make more sense to me at this moment.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Yeah. I imagine 1914 is an important year for a lot of Mexicans.

My father isn't Mexican. However, my mother is, which is why we moved down here.

I do believe the Bible is accurate, but I don't think it's the end of the world. I don't know what your father's religion is. People thought 6/6/06 would start the end of the world and it didn't happen. They've been saying this for years. I agree with Sarn about the military.
2009-07-23, 12:49 PM #50
Why would 6/6/06 be the end of the world? The number of the beast is 666, not 662006. It should have been in 667. Or maybe 699.
2009-07-23, 1:01 PM #51
or even 06062006

Guess they really would've been sweating in the year of 666 AD

The government can't successfully run the medicare or medicaid system now... how can we expect them to sucessfully run healthcare for the entire nation when they can't take care of a fraction of us already?

Because a good portion of the resources tied up in medicare/aid is wasted on determining who is eligible?

But that's just the thing: the government isn't in charge of those services, the HMOs are. The American attitude of nonintervention in business has resulted in a climate in the medical field - the field most identified with anachronisms like 'compassion' - where only robber barons will grow, like a disgusting slimy mold spreading through a corpse.

In a country where you live or die by an actuary table, don't you think it's a little curious that you are inundated by doting, concerned doctors the moment you contract an ailment that the insurance company doesn't have to pay for? By suggesting that the government is incapable of running healthcare, you are advocating the system that is currently failing and murdering the American people.

You can moan all you like about our NHS, but it works. If you're so pissy/moany about it you can take the option to pay for private care. I don't see why it can't be made to work in the US too.

hey im in NHS, national honors society if you mean

I'll never forget going to an American hospital and seeing an RN shouting at a non-responsive patient for his credit card.

In the US if you need a cholecystectomy it will take 84 days on average to get your surgery done (or 106 if you need a follow-up ERCP). Know how long I waited in Canada? 6 days. 6 days, and we're filthy commies with filthy commie public healthcare and bread lines.

Our system doesn't just work, it works better. It's faster, it's safer, it's less wasteful, and more money ends up getting put back into research and maintenance than in the United States where it all gets carted off by the shareholders and CEOs. The redscare-inspired fear of public healthcare is only going to get more and more insane as the burden from epidemic obesity and an aging population make the inadequacies of American healthcare even more evident than they are.

It costs the government here about $20 CAD a month per person, IIRC. I believe it's much lower than American insurance premiums, but you can't even get an apples-to-apples comparison because my coverage takes care of everything I need, while your insurance will only cover select procedures that your insurance company - not your doctor! - believes are absolutely necessary.

You do realize that America has nearly 9 times more people than Canada? Therefore there will be a lot more demand for medical service.
Nothing to see here, move along.

It also logicaly should have 9 times more doctors and 9 times more hospitals, so it should still be even. Plus the US is far richer then Canada.
