What engines would you say have the best editing community? I've been looking around and am fed up of seeing file planet designed websites and am wondering if anyone has any links. Ideally, in my dreams, Massassi but for a different game :D

I've wanted to make Magrucko Daines and the *insert unknown sequel title here* for a few months now, but feel I've done everything I can with jedi knight.
Magrucko Daines and the Crypt of Crola (2007)
Magrucko Daines and the Dark Youth (2010)
Magrucko Daines and the Vertical City (2016)

I've not worked with it, but the Source engine is pretty big on the steam editing forums and they're always willing to help out there. (At least they were a few months ago when I thought about using the Source engine and read up on it on their forums, may have changed since then)

I hear good things about http://www.interlopers.net for the source engine

Mapping and modding is a slowly dying hobby because not many PC-focused games come out anymore now the consoles are in the spotlight.

I'm bit more use to Hammer but it's riddled with annoyances. Applying and modifying textures in your map is a tedious process.

Not everyone, just those that matter.

Sorry I forgot to also add... Why exactly would someone kill themselves because people on the internet don't think fondly of them? Perhaps that might be your first choice NoESC but I'd rather go on with my life not really caring :)

I think your missing his point.

World. Better place. Please do it.

That's a big negative sir.

And to answer OP, I like contaminated.net myself. Although it is a fileplanet designed site :( Source has a huge community.

Nalicity for unreal was great, until it got destroyed

Mapping on new games can be difficult. It seems like many editors rely on 3DMax for things that used to be built with brushes.

2009-07-23, 9:28 PM #21

Back in the days of JK editing, Massassi was a great editing community.

Source engine is great... takes some getting used to though, if you're coming from JK.

Polycount USED to be a great editing site, until the morons let it die.

They're revamping it...since April. :(
2009-07-25, 10:49 PM #27
Since alot longer then that. I think that post has been up there for 3 or 4 years now. They just change the date.

Nah, before April it redirected to a page with some of their Quake 2 models on it, which can still be gotten to with a quick google. But, no idea how long the full site has been out.

Garry's Mod and Source. Plus Interlopers.
2009-07-26, 8:52 PM #32
The Stalker editing community is pretty great, they have done wonders with that engine. However they don't really congregate in one place, which means it's hard as hell to mix and match different mods.

I still wander over to the XWAUP boards every now and then.
