Good evening. I'm dalf and this is the Massassi Evening News.

On June 22, much of Asia world was plunged into darkness during the morning hours when a solar eclipse occured. The total eclipse lasted for about three minutes in some parts of India. Many Hindus offered prayers and chants during the eclipse. In the city of Varanasi, tens of thousands rushed to the Ganges to immerse themselves. An 80 year old woman was suffocated in the stampede.

In California, new budget talks offer a grim but temporary future for Californians. Across the board many cuts will take place should the new budget survive which include cuts in educaton, transportation, and prisons. Currently the State of California has a deficit of about $17 billion and it is projected to be about $41 billion by 2010.

In sports, Pittsburg Steelers quarterback, Ben Rothelisburger, who helped lead the team to their 2nd Super Bowl victory in his tenure as starting quarterback, has been served a lawsuit by a woman who claims the star QB sexually assaulted her in Summer of 2008. The woman, who's identity remains secret, was working as an executive host at the Harrah's casino in Lake Tahoe, CA. The suit alleges that Rothelisburger fraternized with the host during the Celebrity Golf Tournament then raped her the next night. The suit claims damages of at least $440,000.

I'm dalf and this has been your Massassi Evening News.

Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I'm kind of refreshed to see the California (proposed) budget cuts. While it sucks to actually see them have to cut on a lot of programs like schooling and such, at least it shows that you cannot have cake and eat it too (enjoy all of our public goods without higher taxes)

It's all those bond measures the state passes. I guarantee at least five multi-billion dollar bond measures will pass in the election of 2010. If it has children or animals it is a guaranteed pass. People in this state are so ****ing stupid.

Actually, that is what they did. I agree, though. It is good to see this happening in California. California is always lauded as being so advanced and "how California goes, so goes the nation". California is just making the example, as if we needed another one, that spending more than what you make is not a recipe for financial prosperity. And without restoring some fairness to their idiotic tax and fee systems the breadwinners in the state are going to continue to flee. It's a beautiful thing.

the Ben Rothelisburger thing seems kind of ridiculous to me. It happened over a year ago, and she's just now filing suit? I've seen enough guys have their lives damaged by butthurt women claiming they were "raped." In fact, I was almost one of them. Also, even if it actually did happen, how is she ever going to prove that?
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

What's this world coming to when you can't fraternize a casino hostess followed by a light raping?

Good evening, this is dalf and this is your Massassi Evening News

:eng101: President Obama is pressuring the Congress and the American People to stand behind his Health Care Reform. He is taking his campaign to the road with a stop in Cleveland for a town hall meeting. Opponents of his health care reform say that it is being rushed out the door and very costly.

"Throughout this debate, the administration's central argument has been that America needs health care reform for the sake of the economy," Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said, who is the minority leader in the Senate. "Yet according to independent estimates, every health care proposal Democrats on Capitol Hill have offered would only hurt the economy."

The bill is not expected to get through Congress before it adjourns for its recess in August.

:eng101: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urges to keep pressure on N. Korea during Asia's premere security meeting, the ASEAN Regional Forum in Phuket, Thailand. Topics included slowing down of North Korea's nuclear program, counter-terrorism, and maritime security.

"The United States will continue to work through every avenue to persuade North Korea to eliminate its nuclear program and normalize relations with the world," Clinton said.

North Korea sent some low-ranking officials to Phuket. While they made little comment, they told the council that they don't want "Pyongyang to be a punchbag [sic]."

:eng101: In sports, The Texas Rangers sweep the Boston Red Sox in a "sick win." Five of their players including two of their top pitchers came down with illnesses. Nevertheless, Rangers pitcher Dustin Nippert only allowed 1 run in 5 and 2/3 innings and reliever Doug Mathis lasted the remaining 3 1/3 inning giving up only one hit and getting his first save in their 3-1 victory over the Red Sox.

"I don't believe in three days you could have played better baseball than we played," manager Ron Washington said. "I'm very proud of those guys."

I went to highschool with Dustin Nippert and his twin brother Derek. Both douchebags. My young brother goes to school with their young brother, Logan. His favorite synonym for 'good' is 'beast'. He's about 5"2' and can jump and hang from the rim of a basketball hoop at the age of 13. I think their mother, Penny, is giving the kids steroids.
