cant you play normal games the moment you buy them(when it's avalible)? or is this installing the whole game onto my PC without the registration key that would come with the store bought product, so i save the 5 minutes it would take to install?

i was reading the HL2 preloading ad in my steam program i guess it was kinda vague in the ad... just take out the store bought product part and it makes perfect sense. i would expect upright citizens like you guys to be able to do that. wasnt too hard for me to make sense of, and i just woke up... then again i dont remember posting it late last night... but whatever.

At first I thought Valve made a mistake in putting it in a GCF files because of a program called GCFscape that allows you to extract files from GCF but Valve must have altered the format of the file for this release because GCFscape can't open it. It would have been funny if they didn't change the GCF format because then people would no problem hacking the game, even if it is only textures and such.
