He looks a bit rough around the edges to say the least. I would hate to be in his shoes after Episode I. He was probably bullied at school and on the Internet a lot for his portrayal of Anakin. I don't think the onus should be placed entirely on him for Episode 1's catastrophy because even if a really good child actor played Anakin; you don't really have much to work with from the script Lucas wrote.
